Our client is a leading international financial services firm.

The Head of Client Due Diligence is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing onboarding, periodic reviews, and compliance screening for a diverse client portfolio, including funds, SPVs, general and limited partners, corporate service providers, and fund administrators. The role ensures regulatory compliance while optimizing due diligence processes to enhance efficiency and business success. The role involves managing a team of approximately 50-60 professionals, with 5 direct reports.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the success of the client onboarding process, including documentation review, KYC/AML checks, screening, and account setup.
  • Ensure all onboarding and periodic review activities comply with regulatory frameworks, internal policies, and risk controls.
  • Maintain a balance between efficiency and regulatory compliance, ensuring high-quality output from the due diligence team.
  • Act as a mentor and leader, providing structured guidance and support to team members through coaching and professional development initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver interactive training programs to enhance team knowledge, motivation, and engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) teams and Compliance Heads to manage complex client cases.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, leveraging collaboration to improve processes and drive compliance efficiency.
  • Continuously optimize onboarding and due diligence procedures to enhance the client experience while maintaining compliance standards.
  • Work alongside Product and SME teams to develop and implement improvements in compliance operations.
Requirements:
  • Professional qualification in KYC, KYB, or AML, or 4+ years of relevant experience in financial compliance.
  • Proven track record in leading and developing large teams within a financial institution or compliance function.
  • Extensive experience in client onboarding and due diligence in the financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of KYC, AML regulations, and payment institution frameworks.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement training programs related to risk management and enhanced due diligence.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to process improvement and regulatory adaptation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and leadership abilities.
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal).
